Treating your pooch on their birthday

Although some people might look at you like you’ve gone crazy when you celebrate your doggy’s birthday, other pet lovers will completely understand the celebration. They are just like another member of the family, so why wouldn’t you celebrate? Alright, having a full-on birthday party might be going a bit far but getting them a little present won’t hurt! You could even make them a dog-friendly cake!

What do you get the dog that has everything, though? There are a few things you could consider.

A great present for your pooch is one of the latest dog beds on the market. This may sound like a rubbish gift but dog beds have come a long way since their inception. Now, you can choose from waterproof to wicker, plastic to luxury fur…you can even invest in a memory foam for those older dogs. It’s a great investment and something your dog will really appreciate.

Why not get some of their favourite treats, like pig’s ears, marrowbone or even rawhide? Whatever their chew of choice is, get some of those as well. Obviously they can’t have these all the time but it’s good to let them indulge every once in a while and if they can’t do it on their birthday, when can they do it?!

A new chew toy might go down well, too. Doggies love nothing more than playing with their owners – be it with a rope toy they can fight you over or a squeaky toy you can throw. Even if your pooch just loves a simple game of throwing the ball and catching it, you can buy them a brand new pack of tennis balls to enjoy. Just be sure you don’t give them the whole pack at once, or the balls will be ruined before you can say “here boy!”

These are just some of the ideas you can consider. There is a whole world of possibilities out there in terms of celebrating your furry pal’s birthday so why not get looking?
