Planning to shop this season for the people in your list? Of all things, never forget to give a little something to your cutie pet dogs. If clothes and garments are your gift surprises to your loved ones, have the same gift idea for your pets, too. Dogs will appreciate your present more than ever and flaunt it with pride and joy.

Shopping clothes for your dogs is almost the same as shopping for your baby’s cute little garments. And when cuteness is what matters the most, it will be fairly easy to spot for those lovely, mini garments in pet shops.

Take your pick from a wide selection of winter sweaters to summer tees and basketball jerseys. You can dress him up on his comfy PJ’s for sleeping or a doggie bath robe after freshening your dog up. Just as kids have party costumes, dogs have their party and holiday attires, too.

Do you want your pet to become a head turner and attention grabber when you walk him in the park? Accessorize him with a uniquely designed dog collar and pair it up with cool shades. Leg warmers are also back in the trend. But before you begin with your shopping spree for your pet’s clothes, you might want to consider these few useful tips.

What do you need to know and remember when shopping for dog clothes? First, do not go for clothes with meticulous details and potential chokers if he is a fond of chewing. Check for small-sized buttons, tassels, and feathers – they attract your pet’s attention and when swallowed, can damage his digestive system.

Your dog will like it better if his clothing fits him just right and does not create inconvenience when walking or running. Clothing comfort is another important rule you need to consider. To be pretty safe, take your dog’s measurement from the collar down to the base of the tail to get the correct length. As to the girth of most dog garments, they come with adjustable Velcro tabs. The problem is if your dog is the barrel-chested type like the bulldog.

Well, if you have the knack for sewing, you can customize your cute gift for your pet. Take the measurements and let out your creativity but make sure you leave an extra inch just in case! You can even make more for your neighbour’s or your best friend’s pet.

Chinese dwarf hamsters originally come from northern China and parts of Mongolia. They are becoming more popular as pets, but many people do not know how to care for them properly. If you would like to learn more about Chinese dwarf hamsters, then you will want to read this article. Specifically, we will talk about owning a Chinese dwarf hamster and the challenges that they present for the pet owner.

Before going out and purchasing one though, there are a few things that you need to be aware of. First off, they do not always make the best of pets for certain people. Because these little guys can sometimes be aggressive, most experts agree that small children can often have a difficult time handling them. Chinese dwarf hamsters can be very friendly creatures, but they can get aggressive with other hamsters. It is best to not keep them in pairs, especially female hamsters, since they are the dominant sex and can get very aggressive with males. Occasionally, the male hamster can even be killed.

The Chinese dwarf hamster can grow up to 9 cm in length, and usually have a lifespan of close to three years. Though they are small in size, they are extremely fast and are usually pretty active. It is always a good idea to give them plenty of room to move around, so you’ll need to make sure that you have a large enough cage to house them. By having a larger space, they are also usually much happier and easier to keep as pets. Their diet normally consists of vegetables, nuts, and commercial hamster food. Hamster treats can also be given to them in moderation. Basically, they can be fed the same diet as any other rodent.

The challenge that many people face with keeping Chinese hamsters as pets, is that they are often a bit timid and can become extremely nervous at certain times. While some people have had no problem raising their hamsters and handling them without issue, there are others who have a very difficult time training their hamster. If you’re interested in owning a Chinese dwarf, these are some of the things that you must take into consideration before visiting the pet store. Even though they can make a great pet, there are some challenges that you need to be aware of. By knowing these basic facts, you will be much more prepared to care for a Chinese dwarf hamster properly.

A few weeks after giving birth, brood bitches sometimes develop a kind of breast infection called canine mastitis. This type of infection is not ordinary among female canines but an owner should still take necessary precautions when their pets are diagnosed with such illness.

When puppies are weaned too early, it can cause an infection to lactating canines. Another factor would be the constant scratches from the claws of the puppies on the mother’s breasts. Other canine-related infections can also affect this condition.

Signs and Symptoms

Normally, a nursing dog’s breasts are warm and enlarged due to the mammary glands that are developing inside the system of the nursing dog. One of the physical symptoms of canine mastitis is that the breasts of the lactating canine turn red or dark-colored and painful when touched. However, if the infection becomes severe, the symptom of dark-colored breast segment turns even darker or blacker with hard and extremely sore breasts.

A brood bitch suffering from canine mastitis is most likely to develop fever and appear weak. She may also possibly lose appetite for food. Because of the throbbing pain in their breasts, they are very sensitive to touch and would not let their babies come near them or even nurse them.

Treatment of Canine Mastitis

If you own a female dog that is lactating, make sure to check on the mammary glands for any indications of breast infection. Once the symptoms of canine mastitis are present, bring your pet to the vet right away. The canine will be examined and prescribed with antibiotics when the dog is diagnosed with such infection. In this case, too, the owner will be advised to perform a hand feeding or assisted feeding.

You might want to ask your vet if it is okay to have the canine nurse its pups even with the infected breast when the fever goes down. It is said that feeding them from the affected breast does not harm the puppies. In fact, it even cleanses the mammary glands and may possibly lower the level of infection. To be sure though, it is still best to seek professional consultation from the animal experts.

Antibiotics will be very helpful in soothing the pain and preventing an invariable occurrence of infection especially that the affected breast will create open wounds on the sides. Remember to ask for assistance from the vet to conduct a cleansing of the wound and how to administer the antibiotics.

I first heard about pet insurance almost six years ago when I saw a magazine ad which directed me to a website for a quote.

I can’t remember which company it was for, but I remember the pet insurance rates listed were about $20 per month, per pet. Being a broke graduate student at the time, I didn’t make the purchase.

It surprises me today how many pet owners have faced daunting vet bills, yet how few have heard of pet health insurance. And now that I work for Pets Best Insurance, people always ask “How much would it be for my 8 year-old Great Dane?” or “Would your plans cover my cat’s urinary tract problems?”

There are a few things to consider when shopping for a pet health insurance company. While excellent customer service, fast payment and easy online account maintenance is a plus (Pets Best Insurance offers all of these), for many of us, it comes down to monthly pet insurance rates. When I adopted my dog Jayda last spring, I was pleased to discover I would’ve chosen Pets Best Insurance even if I didn’t work here. One company offers 45 days of free coverage and a discount the first month after that, but after I did a little research, switching to Pets Best Insurance was a no-brainer.

For me, it was important to have a variety of deductibles to choose from, in order to get the perfect monthly pet insurance rates. I also didn’t want to be nickled-and-dimed to death with things like extra cancer coverage. (Pets Best Insurance plans cover cancer, so long as the cancer isn’t pre-existing.)

I was surprised to see some companies require a full 30-day waiting period, so you’re paying for an entire month with no coverage—which didn’t seem very fair to me, and didn’t seem to make sense for my dog’s health care.

Other factors in my search included age limits and continuous care. Some companies won’t insure older pets. Still others start their policies fresh every year, meaning that anything previously covered can be regarded as a pre-existing condition. That defeats the entire purpose of dog health care insurance, if you ask me. And what if my dog were to get sick just before our policy renewed? We wouldn’t have much coverage at all. Thankfully with Pets Best Insurance, we don’t have to worry about any of that.

When you’re comparing pet insurance rates, make sure you consider all the above. It’s also important to determine what you can afford each month, and how much you can comfortably part with as a deductible. All Pets Best Insurance plans cover 80% of covered expenses after a deductible is subtracted. Additionally my company’s pet insurance rates are all inclusive and include some of the highest payout limits in the industry.

When we can spend so much amount of money on ourselves than why not on our pets?? The ways we need a bed to relax after a long tiring day event hey need the same. A good bed for your dog can last for years and also it’s the perfect place for your dog to relax. You need to select the perfect bed for your dog depending on its uniqueness and personality. Size of the bed matters a lot for every pet.

A small breed would require a smaller bed and larger would require a spacious bed. Some smaller breeds prefer having larger beds eg: Chihuahua. That depends on their behavior too. Chihuahua which is a small breed of dog needs a bigger bed because they tend to behave as if they are larger breed of dogs and they love to rest their little head in giant bed. A bed makes them feel protected and secured and so it’s very important that they get a perfect bed according to their requirement. Do keep a check on the material used in the bed. Sometimes some different material used in making may cause allergies to your pet. Also if your dog prefers playing a lot than and you need to take it to the garden than get a dog carrier and you can carry your pet to all the places easily. A right carrier for your dog can make its travel fun and happy. You can safely carry your dog from one position to another and also it looks great.

It gives you a classy look. You can make your dog feel special and protected by buying it a pet carrier. If you have a nasty pet spoiling things around that get a pet carrier. Many dogs have tendency to destroy the furniture and clothes when left alone in the house. During such time a pet carrier can help your dog to be in control. You can out up your pet inside the carrier and move out without tension. If you have a pet than this things are important for your house.
